New Orleans River View in Audubon Park !
Thursday, June 10th, 2010
The mighty Mississippi River flows through Audubon Park one of the oldest and one of the larger parks in the New Orleans Metro area. Its the industry on the West Bank and Audubon Park and Zoo on the East Bank. Sit for a couple and you are bound to catch a freighter or tug from all parts of the world. This section is on the river side of the levee so that is why the view is so good.
Historic New Orleans Home rots away! Sad to see because they are hard to duplicate today!
Sunday, June 6th, 2010
This historic home near the Garden District rots away. Sad to see but it is not unusual as they do cost a lot to keep up and put back into shape after 50 years or so of neglect. The weather, hurricanes, termites, water damage, and plants have taken its tole on the 150 year old home. Maybe a group can take it over and make it a project of pride.
St. Elizabeth’s Condos, Angel at the door!
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

This is one of my favorite photos. It was a quickie shot while I was showing the St. Elizabeth Condos on Napoleon Ave. in Uptown New Orleans. This was Anne Rice’s home before being converted into condos in 2005. Before that time it was an orphanage and school. Its a real gem. The condos are among the best in the city in that they combine historic features and today’s luxuries.

Its all clean! Lot of lines fit togeather like a puzzle in this New Orleans Uptown home. The shadows and light actually make this photo look better. Al the details of the porch, railings, shutter, columns, gutters, windows, steps, siding all seem to work togeather. Its a lot of details for the eye to catch but in photos you can get a lot of elements in focus or at least remember them.

Uptown Home in New Orleans, afternoon sun highlights the details!
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010
In terms of style it looks like a Eastlake sidehall camel back with plenty of details. This was a popular style between 1880 and 1905. This like many home in New Orleans took points from earlier styles and what was popular at that time to come up with a variety of homes. The historic nature of these homes and the fact that so many have been saved from the ravages of time make for many treasures of homes in New Orleans.
Magazine Street Merchants make New Orleans unique in its shopping patterns. Very few Malls !!
Monday, February 22nd, 2010
The City of New Orleans is not the home to many shopping malls. One of the local treasures are the merchants along Magazine Street. The vitality of the area with its numerous shops and wide variety of merchnats. There is everything from Antiques, Coffee Shops, Bars flag shops and restaurants among too many to mention. Several blocks from St. Charles towards the river, Magazine Street starts at Canal Street and ends up at River Road upriver from Audubon Park.
It’s the colors that make you notice this Uptown New Orleans home!
Saturday, January 30th, 2010
Its the colors that make you notice this New Orleans home ! It looks like it could have had some Caribbean influence as many early Louisiana plantations had. It also looks like a double! It also looks like a camelback home as well.
A New Orleans camelback is where a two story was added in the rear as an addition to make the home larger. It is generally a couple of bedrooms up and a larger living area down. In the late 1800’s homes were taxed on the height and width of the front of the home. So to avoid taxes and have more room the “camelback” was invented. In the late 1990’s you were taxed in many cases as to how well you knew the tax assessor !!
Uptown New Orleans Home, The picket fence displays their Mardi Gras beads!
Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
Great way to decorate for Mardi Gras in New Orleans. The throws which are the beads are becoming used for more and more decorations. Great way to show of your spirit and the unusual way to express yourself. The Uptown New Orleans home is unique and picturesque in itself. The beads are what caught my eye. Everyone enjoys them and they stay untouched for others to enjoy.
