The modern subdivisions in New Orleans developed in the 1960′s and 1970′s as people left the city of New Orleans for bigger and better homes in Jefferson Parish, St. Charles and St. Tammany. The Spanish Style ranch was a popular home style of the early 1970′s. The style maybe had a 15 year life at best. The insides are the same as the traditional ranch.
The common features of that time period was galley kitchens, fireplaces, paneled dens, shag carpets, flocked wall paper, concrete slabs, built in air conditioners, brick exteriors and moderate size attics. The originals are quite dated at this time. Best feature was the brick exterior as it handles the New Orleans weather better than anything to date.
